Another Karachi Cop Killed in Apparent Robbery Gone Wrong
In a shocking incident, a police officer lost his life in Karachi’s Bhains Colony neighborhood when an unknown gunman opened fire on him. The victim, identified as Qaiser from Saudabad Police Station in District Korangi, was targeted near 10th Street Road, according to police reports cited by ARY News.
Eyewitnesses told authorities that Qaiser fought back during what seemed like a robbery attempt, but the attacker shot him and fled the scene with a 30-bore pistol. Paramedics rushed Qaiser to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead. After a postmortem, police handed his body over to his family. Officers have filed an FIR and launched a full investigation into the Karachi police shooting.
This marks the second such tragic attack on police in Karachi within weeks. Just 12 days earlier, on September 18, Constable Sadam Hussain from Gulshan-e-Maymar Police Station met a similar fate. He was fixing his motorcycle at a local puncture shop when four men in a white car pulled up and fired at him, ARY News reported.
Investigators found five 9mm pistol shells and one 30-bore shell at the site. They moved Hussain’s body to a private hospital near the National Stadium. Sindh Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Langah quickly took action, ordering Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West to deliver a report on steps taken. He also pushed for a thorough probe, including forensic evidence, eyewitness accounts, and updates on any arrests in this targeted police killing in Karachi.
The pattern of violence against officers continues. Back in August, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohammad Khan Abro died in a suspected hit in Bin Qasim Town. Attackers on a motorcycle shot him outside his home. He suffered critical injuries and passed away at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre upon arrival, as per ARY News.
Abro had previously led the Ghaghar Phatak police post and was stationed at Steel Town Police Station when the attack happened. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah responded by demanding a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police and urging quick arrests of those responsible for these rising attacks on police in Pakistan’s Sindh province.
As investigations into these Karachi police killings unfold, authorities face growing pressure to curb the violence targeting law enforcement.
