A group from India’s Indian Minorities Foundation, including MPs Satnam Singh Sandhu and Harsh Shringla, plus Professor Himani Sood, had a special meeting with Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City. This happened on Wednesday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. The Pope shared his blessings for PM Modi and wished him great health, as shared by the Indian Embassy in Austria.
The warm greetings poured in from leaders around the world on PM Modi’s birthday. EU President Ursula von der Leyen sent her best wishes, and PM Modi replied with thanks. In a post on X, the 75-year-old leader wrote: “Always a pleasure to speak to President Ursula von der Leyen. Thank you for your warm birthday greetings. Delighted to know about the New Strategic EU-India Agenda adopted today. India is ready to take the India-EU relationship to the next level. It is our shared commitment, shared goal, and shared responsibility. We remain committed to an early and peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.”
PM Modi also thanked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for her kind words. He highlighted the strong India-Italy friendship and said he’s excited to build on it even more.
Other big names joined in too—Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump sent their birthday wishes to PM Modi. The Prime Minister later shared that he felt truly overwhelmed by all the love and messages from India and abroad on his special day.
