MP CM reviews crop damage and orders state-wide survey; Cong to protest in Ujjain tomorrow

Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Orders Crop Damage Survey After Heavy Rains

In a big relief for farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stepped in on Thursday to tackle the damage from recent heavy rains and other issues hitting crops across the state. Speaking directly to farmers, he promised quick action and full compensation so no one has to bear the losses.

During his visit to Shajapur district, CM Yadav personally checked the soybean fields in Khadi village, where rains and pests have caused serious harm. He urged district collectors to start a detailed on-ground survey right away, covering everything from low rainfall to insect attacks. "We’ll survey all the damage properly and make sure farmers get every bit of compensation they deserve," he said at a local event. "The state government is committed to protecting our farmers—no losses for them."

This move comes as Madhya Pradesh farmers face tough times with erratic weather and crop failures. The survey reports will go straight to the state government, helping speed up relief efforts for affected soybean and other crops.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress isn’t holding back. They slammed the BJP-led government for ignoring farmers’ needs, especially on fertiliser shortages and delayed crop damage compensation in Madhya Pradesh. State Congress chief Jitu Patwari announced a massive protest in Ujjain—CM Yadav’s home district—on Friday. "Farmers are struggling without enough fertilisers or fair payouts for ruined crops," Patwari said. Over 25,000 party workers plan to rally in the Chief Minister’s assembly constituency to demand better support.

Big names from Congress, including former CM Digvijaya Singh, Sajjan Singh Verma, party in-charge Harish Choudhary, and ex-Rajasthan Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, will join the Ujjain protest. This showdown highlights the growing tension between the ruling BJP and opposition over Madhya Pradesh farmer welfare.

As the survey kicks off, eyes are on how quickly the Madhya Pradesh government delivers on its promises amid these farmer protests and crop damage concerns.
