Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dediapada, Gujarat, on November 15 for a major celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
The event will also mark Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, or Tribal Pride Day, honouring the important role that tribal communities have played in India’s history and growth.
Modi will speak to thousands of tribal people, highlighting government initiatives aimed at improving their welfare and development. He will also visit the historic Devmogra Mata Temple to offer prayers, underscoring the administration’s commitment to empowering tribal communities and preserving their cultural heritage.
Ahead of the PM’s arrival, Gujarat’s Tribal Development Minister Naresh Patel announced a Janjatiya Gaurav Yatra that will span 1,378 kilometres from November 7 to 13. The journey will begin in Ambaji, pass through 88 villages across 14 districts, and end at Ekta Nagar. The tour will showcase tribal culture, traditions and current development projects.
“The Tribal Pride Yatra brings people together to celebrate Birsa Munda’s legacy and raise awareness of tribal rights,” Minister Patel said from Surat.
The yatra’s conclusion on November 15 will coincide with Modi’s address, where he is expected to launch new tribal welfare initiatives. The day’s events aim to reaffirm India’s vision of inclusive growth, ensuring that every tribal community’s voice is heard and celebrated.
