Bangladesh’s Awami League has slammed the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government, accusing it of brutal torture and killings of party leaders and activists in prisons across the country. In a strong statement, the party claims these horrific acts happen under direct orders from the Yunus administration.
“We won’t just stop at protests and condemnations,” the Awami League said. “This killer-fascist rule under Yunus will go down as a dark chapter in Bangladesh’s history. Humane people will unite and fight back against this monstrous group to bring real justice.”
The party has raised alarms multiple times about these inhuman abuses in prisons. Back in July, they demanded full, transparent investigations into the deaths of at least 24 members in custody since the interim government took over. These killings, they say, took place in jails and police stations—places meant to be safe in any civilized society—and violate Bangladesh’s laws as well as international human rights standards.
Awami League leaders are calling on the global community, human rights groups, and justice advocates to support the victims’ families and push for independent probes into these custodial deaths in Bangladesh. The tension highlights growing concerns over prison violence and political persecution under the current regime.
