In Bengaluru, police have taken strict steps to ensure a peaceful celebration of Eid-e-Milad this year. As part of the preparations, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh announced a complete ban on the sale of liquor in several areas on September 5. This move aims to prevent any law and order issues during the religious procession and festivities.
The Eid-e-Milad procession is set to begin Thursday morning from areas like Kothanur and Sampigehalli in the northeast division. The march will pass through major roads including Thanisandra Main Road, Nagawara, Arabic College Road, Shyampur, Tannery Road, and others, with an expected crowd of around 50,000 to 60,000 people. After the procession, celebrations will continue into the night as worshippers return home. Police fear that some individuals might consume alcohol during this time, which could lead to disturbances.
To keep things peaceful, authorities have issued a law that bans the sale of liquor from 5 p.m. on September 5 until 6 a.m. on September 6. This ban covers several key areas, including Hennur, R.M. Nagar, Govindapura, K.G. Halli, D.G. Halli, Pulakeshinagar, Bharathinagar, Commercial Street, Shivajinagar, J.C. Nagar, and R.T. Nagar. The police say this step is necessary based on intelligence reports and to prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations.
The order affects all bars, restaurants, wine shops, pubs, and liquor stores, barring some licensed shops with specific licenses (CL-4 and CL-6A). These shops will also remain closed during the ban. The police have emphasized that only food services in restaurants and hotels will be permitted to operate, ensuring public safety while allowing for normal food and essential services.
Bengaluru police are working hard to ensure a safe and harmonious Eid-e-Milad celebration for everyone. This proactive approach aims to prevent any disruptions and ensure the city’s festivities go smoothly.
