The Awami League slammed the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus on Monday, saying it has set a series of arson attacks across Bangladesh to destabilise the country and hurt ordinary people. The party’s statement follows a string of major fires in Dhaka and the port city of Chattogram that have raised alarm about Bangladesh’s fire safety standards and emergency response.
According to the Awami League, the fires are not accidents. “The illegal usurper and murderous fascist Yunus gang is deliberately pushing Bangladesh toward destruction,” the party said. It added that the July‑August blaze wave showed the interim government’s negligence and indifference to the safety of its citizens.
The party offered heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones in the recent blazes and wished swift recovery to the injured. They also said that the interim government is politicising the victims’ deaths. “There is a big gap between eyewitness accounts and the numbers the government reports,” the Awami League said. It accused the government of blaming the party to hide its own failures.
The Awami League’s critics claim the interim government’s decisions are driven by foreign interests. “Most leaders of this illegal regime hold foreign passports and run the country on the orders of outside masters,” the party claimed. They warned that if Bangladesh is allowed to sink, the government will abandon the country.
In a call to action, the Awami League urged citizens to unite against what it called “anti‑national” activities. “If we do not defend our country, we will have to sacrifice everything,” the party said. It urged people to stand together and protect Bangladesh’s future.
