Canadian police expose alleged ISIS conspirator in plot against Jews, women’s attempted kidnappings
Canadian officials have filed charges against a Toronto man named Waleed Khan for allegedly helping the Islamic State in exchange for money and property.
The charges say he plotted to murder for the terrorist network and provided support to ISIS. Police say the alleged offences occurred between mid‑June and mid‑August.
In addition to the terrorism accusations, Khan and two other men are accused of launching hate‑motivated attacks on Jewish people and women. Osman Azizov, age 18, and Fahad Sadaat, age 19, were apprehended after trying to kidnap two women in the Greater Toronto Area in May and June.
In May, the trio—one holding a handgun and another a knife—attempted to coerce a woman into a vehicle. When another driver approached, they fled.
A month later, the same men approached a pair of women with a handgun, a rifle and a knife. Police stopped the chase when a witness stepped in. After arresting the suspects, authorities uncovered a cache of firearms and evidence pointing to additional hate crimes against Jews.
The three suspects face a combined total of 79 charges. Each has 14 accusations, including attempted kidnapping with a firearm, sexual assault with a weapon and hate‑crime offenses.
Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah praised the teamwork of investigators, the Toronto Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
