On the festive day of Mahasaptami, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dove into the celebrations by visiting several Durga Puja pandals in Patna. He sought blessings from Goddess Durga for the state’s happiness, peace, and prosperity during this vibrant Navratri season.
Kumar kicked off his visits at the Shri Shri Durga Puja Mahotsav Shiv Mandir in Khajpura, where he offered prayers and performed rituals at the nearby Shiv Temple. He then headed to the Shri Shri Durga Ashram in Sheikhpura, sharing warm festive greetings with locals. Priests welcomed him with Mata Ki Chunari, and he took time to immerse himself in devotion to the goddess.
Earlier that day, Kumar joined Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha for the Maha Aarti at Sinha’s official residence on 3 Strand Road. He lit the ceremonial lamp and took part in the Phalahar, a traditional fruit meal that highlights harmony and faith. “I pray to Goddess Durga for the well-being and prosperity of Bihar’s people,” Kumar said, while extending Navratri wishes to everyone.
The event drew top Bihar leaders and officials, including Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, JDU State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner S Siddhartha, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan S.M., and Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma.
Many see Kumar and Sinha’s joint appearance as a strong sign of unity in Bihar’s ruling coalition, fostering a positive vibe in the state’s politics. The group later enjoyed a shared fruit meal, keeping the atmosphere lively and family-oriented.
This Durga Puja gathering not only captured the religious spirit of Sharadiya Navratri but also highlighted the cooperative side of Bihar politics amid the festivities.
