Diwali lights the streets of New Delhi as UAE officials celebrate the festival with a colorful video shared on X.
UAE Ambassador to India Abdulnasser Al‑Shaali posted the clip on Monday, showing him and fellow diplomats lighting earthen lamps and creating vibrant rangoli. “Diwali has been part of my journey in India from the very start, and as I celebrate my fourth one here, its warmth feels more special than ever,” Al‑Shaali wrote. “Wishing everyone happiness and prosperity.”
Earlier that day, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice‑President/Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also sent Diwali greetings via X. Their messages called for peace, health and prosperity for people in the UAE and around the world.
The Indian festival of lights honors the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. It draws crowds worldwide, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and the universal theme of unity.
Other diplomatic missions joined the celebrations. The Finnish Embassy in India marked Diwali with a quiz, lunch and dance. “Happy Diwali from Team Finland in India! Our team marked the occasion with a festive quiz, a delicious lunch, and some lively dance moves,” the embassy wrote.
Israeli diplomats spent the day shopping for flowers and lamps, then made rangoli inside the embassy. “Our diplomats went Diya and Decor shopping! May our homes be filled with love and light, today and everyday! Happy Diwali,” the Israeli Embassy posted.
The Swiss Embassy also shared warm wishes for the festival, highlighting the global reach of Diwali celebrations.
Across the globe, Diwali 2024 shines as a bright reminder of cultural tradition, togetherness, and the hope that light can triumph over darkness.
