Belagavi, Dec 11 (LatestNewsX) – In the Legislative Council, Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told the room that his “strong and steady” chair could stand the heat, after members of the opposition teased him when a staffer was forced to reposition his seat in the Upper House.
The episode began when Siddaramaiah rose to speak and found his chair misaligned, so he asked the clerks to pull it back. He said he was struggling to straighten out the chair and address the House.
BJP MLC Hanumanth Nirani noted that the CM seemed to be having a tough time because his microphone was also mis‑mounted.
When Siddaramaiah replied, he reminded everyone that it doesn’t matter which minister you are – even a Prime Minister – you still need to point out difficulties when they arise.
Opposition Leader in the Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, then called the CM’s chair “shaky” in recent days.
Siddaramaiah shot back immediately that his chair was not shaky. “First, check whether your chair is shaky. My chair is strong and steady,” he said.
When the BJP kept insisting that the chair did not look robust in the current political climate, the Chief Minister chuckled and said, “I know. When there is trouble, it should be mentioned. Now it’s alright.”
In a parallel scene, the BJP rattled Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar over a leadership spat in the Assembly after he folded his hands toward the opposition benches.
Former minister and BJP MLA V. Sunil Kumar mock‑teased him, saying Shivakumar was showing “too much humility” in the House. “We have a certain image of you. If you suddenly soften, what should we think?” he asked.
Sunil Kumar also cited the famed Kannada verse “Kaanada Kadalige Hambaliside Mana” – “My heart longs for the unseen ocean” – then added, “Similarly, Shivakumar is longing for whether he will get the chair one day.”
Senior BJP MLA S. Suresh Kumar noted that today’s leaders often undergo image make‑overs and receive constant guidance. “Is this part of that?” he asked. Shivakumar met the jibes with a smile.
Speaker U.T. Khader urged members to stay focused on the pressing issues concerning North Karnataka instead of drifting into side‑talk.
