Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had a successful pacemaker implantation at a private hospital in Bengaluru today. The procedure went smoothly, and his family says he’ll be back to work by October 3, ready for all his scheduled events.
His son, Priyank Kharge, who serves as Karnataka’s Minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, IT, and BT, shared the good news on social media. “The pacemaker implantation for Kharge wrapped up earlier today,” Priyank posted. “It was a quick, minor procedure, and he’s doing stable right now. We’re thankful for everyone’s support and well-wishes.”
Kharge had checked into MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru on Tuesday for this planned pacemaker surgery. Priyank explained that doctors recommended it after Kharge dealt with fever, fatigue, and leg pain. “He’s recovering well and stable—we appreciate all the concern,” Priyank added.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stopped by the hospital today to check on Kharge’s health. After the visit, Siddaramaiah told reporters it was just a routine check-up for some minor discomfort. He wished Kharge a speedy recovery, highlighting the close ties within the Congress party leadership in Bengaluru.
