India’s Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, made a significant visit to Reykjavik, Iceland, where he connected with the Indian community and friends of India at a warm reception organized by the Indian Embassy.
Singh shared his experience on social media, saying it was inspiring to see how the Indian diaspora is helping to strengthen India–Iceland relations. He highlighted that Indian communities are playing an important role in boosting cultural and economic ties between the two countries. Singh also met with Icelandic friends who have long supported cultural exchanges and friendship between India and Iceland.
This event was part of Singh’s visit to Reykjavik for the second India–Nordic Track 1.5 Dialogue, a forum that promotes cooperation between India and Nordic countries like Iceland. During the event, Singh emphasized the growing partnership, focusing on areas like trade, tourism, and technology.
Earlier, Singh had a chance to speak alongside Iceland’s Foreign Minister, Katrin Gunnarsdottir, at the official reception. He expressed enthusiasm about the discussions ahead and said he was eager to explore new ways to deepen cooperation with Nordic nations.
During his visit, Singh inspected progress on key areas including trade, tourism, and technological innovation at the Indian Embassy in Reykjavik. He discussed fresh ideas to enhance collaboration and strengthen economic partnerships.
The Indian government believes Singh’s visit will boost bilateral ties and foster greater interaction between India and the Nordic countries’ strategic and research communities.
In his meetings with Iceland’s Foreign Minister, Singh also reviewed progress in important sectors such as renewable energy, geothermal energy, and fisheries. He appreciated Iceland’s strong stand against terrorism, especially condemning the recent Pahalgam terror attack, and reaffirmed India’s desire to build closer ties in areas of mutual interest.
