Macron applauds diplomatic effort
On X, Macron posted, “Great hope for the hostages and their families, the Palestinians in Gaza, and the whole region. I welcome the agreement that releases the hostages and brings a ceasefire. I credit President Trump, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey for making it happen.” He urged all sides to follow the terms “without delay” and said France will work with partners in Paris to aid reconstruction.

Von der Leyen echoes praise
Similarly, von der Leyen welcomed the ceasefire plan, noting it stemmed from President Trump’s proposal. “The US, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey performed key diplomatic work,” she wrote. She added, “Israel and the Palestinian Authority support this agreement. All parties must fully honor its conditions, release all hostages safely, and end the suffering.”

She also reminded the EU that it will keep shipping humanitarian aid into Gaza and is ready to help with rebuilding once peace holds.

Global leaders weigh in
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the deal reflects Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership and hopes the release of hostages and aid will create a pathway to lasting peace. Israel’s ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, thanked the US and India for supporting the agreement and wished for a swift return to safety for all civilians.

United Nations Secretary‑General António Guterres called the deal “a crucial breakthrough,” praised the multi‑nation mediators, and urged full compliance. Qatar’s prime minister Majed Al Ansari confirmed that the agreement resolved all key provisions and will release Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

Netanyahu’s reaction
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu flagged the agreement as a “great day” for Israel. He announced a government meeting to approve the deal and thanked the Israeli military, security forces, and President Trump’s team for their dedication to freeing the kidnapped.

Hamas statement
Hamas released its first statement since the deal, acknowledging the end of the war, withdrawal of occupation forces, entry of aid, and prisoner exchange. The group urged international allies to enforce the agreement and reaffirmed its commitment to national rights and self‑determination.

What comes next?
The ceasefire hinges on every party’s swift action. Humanitarian corridors will open, and aid will start arriving in Gaza. Reconstruction plans will need EU and international support to rebuild homes, schools and hospitals. The push toward a two‑state solution remains the long‑term goal, with the current compromise offering a chance to rebuild trust.

The international community watches closely as the World Bank, WHO, and NGO networks prepare logistical support while diplomats coordinate the transition from conflict to reconstruction.

The night’s breakthrough brings hope that a fragile peace can finally move beyond headlines to real, lasting stability for Gaza, Israel, and the broader Middle East.
