Shocking Racially Motivated Rape Attack in Oldbury: Police Hunt for Two Suspects
A young woman in her 20s faced a terrifying ordeal in Oldbury, UK, when she reported a brutal rape attack on Tame Road. West Midlands Police revealed the incident happened earlier this week, and they’re now treating it as a racially aggravated assault. The woman bravely called the police just before 8:30 am on Tuesday, September 9, sharing that one of her attackers hurled racist abuse at her during the assault.
Police are on the hunt for two white men believed to be behind the attack. The first suspect has a shaved head, a heavy build, and was last seen in a dark-coloured sweatshirt and gloves. The second wore a grey top with a silver zip. Chief Superintendent Kim Madill from Sandwell Police shared an update, saying the team is working tirelessly on the investigation. "We’re digging into CCTV footage, forensics, and other leads to track down those responsible," she said. "We get how angry and worried the community feels right now. I’m out talking to locals today to assure them we’re doing all we can to catch and arrest these men."
Madill added that attacks like this are extremely rare in the area, but to ease fears, police will ramp up patrols. They stress this seems like an isolated incident, not part of a bigger threat. If you know anything, reach out to West Midlands Police on 101, quoting log 798 from September 9.
The news has hit hard in the local Sikh community, especially since the victim is a Sikh woman. Labour MP Preet Kaur Gill, who represents the area, condemned the attack in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter). "I’m deeply shocked by this horrific assault on a young Sikh woman in Oldbury," she wrote. "It’s not just extreme violence—it’s racially motivated, with the attackers telling her she doesn’t belong here. But she does belong. Our Sikh community, and every community, deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued. Racism and misogyny have no place in Oldbury or anywhere in Britain."
Gill, who was born and raised in the area, opened up about the rising fear among her constituents. "Many are reaching out to me, scared by this overt racism. I hear you, and it’s deeply concerning," she said. She’s teaming up with West Midlands Police to push for quick action and better safety measures. "No one should live in fear because of who they are. I’ll keep fighting for tougher laws against hate crimes and more support for victims. Let’s stand together against violence and hatred."
She also highlighted her family’s deep roots in Britain, noting her grandfather and great-grandfather fought in the World Wars for the country. "My family has contributed for generations. Read Sikh history—it’s full of pride and sacrifice," Gill urged.
This heartbreaking case shines a light on the urgent need to tackle hate crimes and racism in the UK. As the investigation continues, the community rallies for justice and unity. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
