Patna, Dec 9 – In a bold, sunny‑hour theft, a band of bike‑riding crooks stole ₹14 lakh from a local businessman near Gandhi Chowk, the busiest corner of the Hariharnath OP area in Vaishali district, on Tuesday.
The well‑coordinated heist has sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood. The victim, Subodh Kumar Singh of Siddhnath Chowk, is a regular who had withdrawn the money from the State Bank of India at 3:52 p.m. and was riding to Registry Market when the attackers sprung their trap.
One young man stopped Singh near Gandhi Chowk and pretended that banknotes were falling from his bike. Singh stepped down to gather the “spilled” cash, only for another youth to swoop in and claim it was rightfully his. Amid the confusion, two extra robbers on a Pulsar motorcycle swooped aboard, snatched the bag carrying the ₹14 lakh, and rode off toward Sonepur Adamsite.
The incident erupted right in the middle of a bustling market, pulling a commotion. When Additional SHO Prince Raj and Sonepur SDPO Pritish Kumar arrived, they were met with a flurry of CCTV footage from the bank and Gandhi Chowk cameras that clearly documented the entire sequence.
Pritish Kumar confirmed that the suspects were identified via the video. “Multiple police teams are conducting raids in the direction in which the criminals escaped,” he said. He added that every thief will be apprehended soon, and the authorities will pursue strict legal action. “An FIR has been registered after the written complaint filed by the victim in the Sonepur police station against unidentified criminals,” he continued.
It is worth noting that four days earlier, on December 5, bikers had similarly swept up several lakhs from an oil refinery businessman in the Beur police station area of Patna, marking another high‑profile daylight raid.
