In SAS Nagar, Punjab, officials recently unveiled a new 1100-feet-deep tube well at the Border Security Force (BSF) campus in Lakhnour. This Rs 36 lakh project promises a steady flow of clean drinking water for BSF personnel and their families, tackling ongoing water scarcity in the area.
The inauguration took place on Friday, with Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Additional Director General of BSF’s Western Command Satish S. Khandare, and Executive Engineer of Public Health Ramanpreet Singh leading the event. The Punjab government spearheaded the initiative to boost potable water access and quality at the campus and nearby spots.
Komal Mittal highlighted the teamwork between the Punjab government and BSF during her speech. “This project shows our shared commitment to community welfare,” she said, while praising officials for finishing it on time.
Satish S. Khandare called it a big win for the BSF campus. “It’ll make a real difference for our jawans and their families,” he noted, adding that it sets a strong example of civil-military partnership.
Ramanpreet Singh shared the tech side, explaining that the tube well meets all standards and can provide nonstop, high-quality drinking water.
Senior BSF leaders, local government reps, and other guests attended the ceremony. With this tube well up and running, the BSF community in Punjab now enjoys reliable water supply, easing concerns about shortages in the region. ()
