Security forces in Manipur scored a big win on Sunday, arresting four militants from two banned groups during separate operations in Imphal districts. Officials say the raids turned up arms and a hefty stash of ammunition, boosting efforts to keep the peace in the region.

Three of the suspects belong to the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), while one is a member of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK). Police nabbed the trio in Imphal East district and the PREPAK cadre in Imphal West. The KCP militants are Angom Achou Singh, Ngairangbam Apollo Meetei, and Md. Alam Khan. The PREPAK member goes by Ningthoujam Bidyasagar Singh, also known as Nanao or Yaithoiba, and he’s 35 years old.

From the arrested group, forces recovered one double-barrel rifle, several mobile phones, and Aadhaar cards. In a separate find in Patsoi area of Imphal West district, they seized four single-barrel guns, a modified sniper rifle, and a 9mm pistol. The haul also included a large cache of ammunition, three high-power hand grenades, bulletproof plates, three detonators, 14 helmets, two Baofeng handsets, three camouflage T-shirts, and three bags.

Manipur security operations don’t stop there. Forces are ramping up searches and patrols in vulnerable spots across hill and valley areas to clamp down on threats. They set up 115 checkpoints, or nakas, statewide over the weekend, but no one got detained in the last 12 hours.

To keep essential supplies moving, security teams escorted dozens of vehicles along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37). They’re maintaining strict measures in sensitive zones, including convoys to ensure safe travel.

Manipur Police are urging residents to stay sharp and ignore rumors or fake videos spreading online. “Check any suspicious clips or audio with the Central Control Room,” a police statement warns. They add that sharing bogus social media posts could lead to legal trouble. Plus, they’re calling on anyone holding looted arms, ammo, or explosives to hand them over to the nearest police station or security post right away.
