Delhi Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh slammed the neglect of rural areas in the capital, saying they’ve been overlooked for the past 27 years. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he pointed fingers at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of running scams that hurt rural Delhi’s growth.
Singh gave a big shoutout to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for rolling out the Rural Delhi Master Plan, calling it a game-changer. He also thanked Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena for stepping up in 2023 with a special fund of about Rs 907 crore for rural development. That support grew to an extra Rs 1,250 crore, Singh noted. “The LG has acted like a true guardian for rural Delhi,” he said, adding that the CM has set aside a dedicated budget to push the master plan forward.
Turning to the scandals, Singh promised to file multiple inquiries himself. “The old government was full of scams, and they’ll come to light,” he warned. He even predicted that Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports would soon cover every legislative assembly in the area.
On the same day, LG VK Saxena shared an update on X about a major push for rural Delhi villages. He and CM Rekha Gupta inaugurated over 80 public facilities and development projects across 50 villages. These efforts fall under the Delhi Gramoudya Abhiyan, run by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and aim to boost infrastructure in rural Delhi.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for village empowerment, the campaign has already wrapped up or nearly finished 854 projects worth Rs 760 crore. Saxena highlighted how it focuses on giving rural folks the facilities they really need. “It’s encouraging to see how much the local people support and embrace these changes,” he posted.
Looking ahead, Saxena expressed strong confidence in CM Gupta’s leadership. He believes the Delhi government will ramp up this ambitious rural Delhi development drive, helping these long-ignored villages catch up to the rest of the capital. In fact, they could become a shining example of rural progress across India.
