Harmeet Singh Sandhu, the AAP candidate, secured 42,649 votes, comfortably outpacing Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Sukhwinder Kaur, who ran second with 30,558 ballots. Independent Mandeep Singh Khalsa trailed in third with 19,620 votes, followed by Congress’s Karanbir Singh Burj (15,078) and BJP’s Harjit Singh Sandhu (6,239).

The result is a strong endorsement for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government, which has already won five of six Punjab by‑polls since taking power in March 2022. The Tarn Taran seat had opened after the death of former AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal in June.

AAP’s Abdul Arora, senior party leader and Punjab minister, thanked voters, saying the win “shows the trust people place in the Mann administration and the work we have done.” “We presented our work to the people, they accepted it and gave us great respect,” he said.

SAD’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal warned the public on X that, “the people’s faith in their own regional party is clear. Once free and fair elections come in 2027, they will send AAP out.”

The voting day on November 11 saw a 60.95 % turnout, with 15 candidates fighting for the seat. The quick counting and hands‑on vote tallies underline the high level of public engagement in Punjab’s upcoming 2027 assembly elections.
