Gandhinagar, Gujarat – The Ahmedabad Shopping Festival is set to light up the city from December 5, 2025, to January 16, 2026. Organizers announced the dates after a key meeting led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with support from the Gujarat state government and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
In the meeting, leaders focused on boosting local pride. They plan to spotlight indigenous products – those made by India’s hardworking youth – echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for the Vocal for Local initiative. The goal? Turn the festival into India’s biggest shopping extravaganza by adding themed markets that draw crowds from everywhere.
CM Patel guided the team on making the event irresistible. He wants stalls packed with everything shoppers need, all in one spot at the GMDC Grounds. Picture this: zones for weddings and more, where families can find gifts, outfits, and decor under one roof. To make it even more fun, expect traditional Gujarati food, heritage walks through Ahmedabad’s historic spots, and lively cultural shows. This setup aims to welcome NRIs, non-resident Gujaratis, and international tourists, giving them a taste of local culture while they shop.
Patel urged the advisory committee to craft a thorough plan covering every detail. He reviewed last year’s success, where over 2.5 million people showed up and 5,112 shops from top brands raked in big sales. Free buses shuttled visitors to the venues, colorful lights brightened the nights, parking was easy, and medical help stayed on standby. For 2026, Patel pushed the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to step up these perks even more.
Senior officials joined the discussions, including State Minister for Cooperation and Industries Jagdish Vishwakarma, Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, and others like Principal Advisor Dr. Hasmukh Adhia and Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani. Tourism Secretary Dr. Rajender Kumar and Commissioner of Cultural Activities Alok Pandey also chipped in ideas to make the Ahmedabad Shopping Festival 2026 a hit for locals and visitors alike.
