In Patiala Military Station, the Airawat Division of Kharga Corps celebrated the 75th anniversary of its historic win in the 1965 Indo-Pak War’s Battle of Phillora. The event, held on September 12, brought together war veterans, active soldiers, top officials, families of martyrs, school kids, and local residents to honor the brave hearts who fought for India’s freedom.
The evening kicked off with heartfelt tributes to the veterans who battled fiercely in those tough times. Organizers honored them with special felicitations, creating a touching link between past heroes and today’s youth. It reminded everyone how these soldiers’ courage and sacrifices keep our nation safe and proud.
A major highlight was the launch of a special First Day Cover (FDC) by Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Command. This commemorative stamp cover featured stunning artwork showing soldiers in action, national symbols, and scenes from the battlefield. It beautifully captured the unbreakable spirit of the Indian Army during the 1965 War.
Next up, guests watched a gripping short film on the Battle of Phillora. The movie recreated the key strategies, heroic deeds, and intense moments from the frontlines. For kids and young viewers, it turned history lessons into an exciting story, while veterans and their families relived the pride of their contributions. The film ended on a powerful note, saluting the martyrs and reinforcing that true freedom comes from the blood and bravery of our troops.
The night wrapped up with a dazzling drone show that lit up the sky. Hundreds of drones formed amazing patterns celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of the Indian Army’s victory in the 1965 Indo-Pak War. This modern twist blended old traditions with cutting-edge tech, showcasing how the army stays rooted in heritage while marching towards the future.
As the Defence PRO in Chandigarh shared, this gathering highlighted the timeless valor of Indian soldiers—their sacrifices live on, and the army remains a strong pillar of national security and peace. Events like these strengthen the bond between the armed forces and the people they protect.
