In Patna on Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) blasted the Mahagathbandhan alliance for failing to agree on how parliamentary seats will be shared ahead of Bihar’s state elections. The BJP argued that the alliance’s internal disagreements show how those in power can’t even work together to govern the state.
BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the Mahagathbandhan – made up of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, and the Left, along with smaller parties – is stuck in “internal discord.” He blamed a deep‑rooted dynastic mindset in the coalition, claiming that family‑based politics prevents the parties from finding common ground. Naqvi warned that any delays could mean the elections—and the alliance—are lost.
National General Secretary Tarun Chugh echoed the criticism. He said the alliance has no vision to develop Bihar, as parties focus on ticket fights rather than public issues. Chugh added that voters see through the “forest of confusion” and will reject the coalition.
BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy also attacked the Mahagathbandhan, calling it less a political partnership and more a family affair. He said that the dominance of dynastic politics within the RJD, Congress, and Janata Dal (United) stops any real compromise from forming.
The Mahagathbandhan still has not reached a consensus on splitting the 243 seats of the Bihar Assembly, and smaller allies raise concerns about how much they will get. With the election deadline fast approaching, the split may have serious consequences for the alliance’s chances in the upcoming polls.
