Amritsar police scored a big win against drug and arms smugglers along the India-Pakistan border. Officers arrested four suspects and detained a juvenile in a crackdown that uncovered a dangerous network pushing illegal goods across the line.
The bust turned up 12 shiny new .30 bore pistols, all sneaked in by drone, plus 1.5 kilograms of heroin. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar shared details with , calling it a major step under Punjab Chief Minister’s zero-tolerance push on organized crime and drugs.
It started with the arrest of three men—Jovan, Karandeep, and Ajaypal. Questioning them led to the recovery of five of those pistols. Digging deeper into Jovan’s leads, police nabbed Jaspreet from Raniya village in Amritsar Rural, along with the juvenile. From them, they grabbed seven more pistols and the full 1.5 kg of heroin stash.
Bhullar explained that the whole operation seemed run by smugglers in Pakistan and bosses in Europe. “Preliminary checks show organized crime groups ordered these weapons for delivery,” he said. “This bust during festival season stopped a ton of potential trouble.”
In related news from Punjab, Faridkot police also hit hard at cross-border smuggling. They arrested two men caught supplying 12.1 kilograms of heroin—worth a whopping 60 crore rupees—from Pakistan. The drugs came over by drone and got hidden in Jhadiwala village before distribution. Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Pragya Jain confirmed the team smashed the gang and seized the entire load.
These quick actions highlight Punjab Police’s ongoing fight against Indo-Pak border smuggling, keeping drugs and illegal arms out of local hands.
