The Andhra Pradesh government has sprung into action to save 187 people from the state who are stuck in Nepal amid ongoing violence. These stranded Telugu citizens are scattered across different parts of the country, and rescue efforts are now in full swing.
Andhra Pradesh Real Time Governance Minister Nara Lokesh is leading the charge personally. He’s monitoring the entire operation from the state RTG centre in Amaravati, making sure everything runs smoothly. To focus on this crisis, Lokesh has even cancelled his trip to Anantapur for the NDA government’s ‘Super Six-Super Hit’ programme, which celebrates the ‘Super 6’ promises.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lokesh shared, “In my capacity as AP’s RTG minister, I will be coordinating rescue and support operations to ensure our people are brought to safety at the earliest.” His commitment shows how seriously the government is taking the safety of stranded Andhra Pradesh citizens in Nepal.
Officials have tracked down these 187 Telugu people in four key locations: Bafal with 27 individuals, Similkot with 12, Mahadev Hotel near Pashupati with 55, and Pingalasthan in Gaushala with 90. This number could go up as more families reach out, so the team is working around the clock to trace everyone.
The state government has looped in Naveen Srivastava, India’s Ambassador to Nepal, and is keeping the Indian embassy in Kathmandu updated. This coordination with central agencies aims to speed up evacuation and ensure the safe return of stranded citizens from Nepal.
To help those in need, the government has shared helpline numbers at the Indian embassy in Kathmandu. Affected people can call or WhatsApp +977-9808602881 or +977-9810326134. For more support, they can reach out to Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in Delhi at +91-9818395787.
Stranded Telugu citizens in Nepal can also contact the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) anytime via their 24/7 helpline: 0863-2340678, WhatsApp: +91-8500027678, or email: helpline@apnrts.com and info@apnrts.com. These resources make it easier for families to get quick assistance during this Nepal crisis.
Minister Lokesh stressed that protecting Telugu people is the top priority. He assured everyone that the state is teaming up with central agencies and the Indian embassy to bring back the stranded Andhra Pradesh citizens as soon as possible. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing Nepal rescue operation.
