As the Bihar Assembly elections get closer, political activity is heating up, especially inside the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
BJP’s state chief, Dilip Jaiswal, told reporters in Patna on Friday that the NDA’s seat‑sharing plan will be revealed very soon. “Everything will be finalised within a day or two,” he said. “The alliance began the campaign with strong unity and there are no issues left—seat‑sharing or candidate picks—about to confuse anyone.”
Jaiswal’s comments aim to calm nerves after rumors of friction over how many seats each partner will get. The NDA is made up of the BJP, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), HAM, and a few smaller parties.
Rajeev Ranjan, the JD(U) national spokesperson, echoed the pledge of unity. “All discussions between the five parties are finished, and the seat‑sharing decisions are made,” he told reporters. “Hold tight for the official joint announcement. The NDA is well‑prepared and confident of victory.”
Ranjan also hinted that the NDA will return to power, with a prediction that former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will lead the next government. “The people have given us their blessings,” he said.
He compared the NDA’s smooth talks to opposition mishaps. “This is the NDA, not a splintered coalition. Opposition parties sometimes pull last‑minute shenanigans,” he said. “Yesterday, top Congress leaders reportedly refused to meet Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. Even the Left and VIP have shown signs of rebellion. But all is normal on the NDA side, and soon the picture will be crystal clear.”
Meanwhile, the nomination process for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls kicked off on Friday. Candidates filed papers for 121 seats across 18 districts. Voting in this phase will take place on November 6 and includes districts such as Gopalganj, Siwan, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Nalanda, and Darbhanga.
The complete election will be held in two phases: November 6 and November 11, with results counted on November 14. All eyes remain on how the NDA’s seat‑sharing will shape the race in Bihar’s upcoming Assembly elections.
