Jammu & Kashmir, 8 Oct – Security forces kept the fight going in Rajouri district after a brief firefight with suspected terrorists. The clash happened overnight in Dhar Sakhri village, but officers say there were no casualties and no new shots fired since early morning.

Police had begun the search after receiving tips about suspicious people in the area. The Army, paramilitary units and the police rushed to the village, set up a tight cordon and kept watch during the night to stop the suspects from slipping away. Senior officers joined the operation and locals were told to stay inside their homes until the area was cleared.

The security push was not limited to Rajouri. In Udhampur district, a cordon and search operation opened in the Dharni top area of Basantgarh on Wednesday after three suspected terrorists were spotted moving through the forest. Basantgarh has seen several clashes in the past, including the death of terrorist commander Haider alias Maulvi, a Pakistani‑linked figure, on 26 June.

Security forces aim to dismantle the whole terror network in the union territory. They target not only militants but also their supporters, drug smugglers, hawala money handlers and any other criminal networks that funnel money to terrorists.
