In a heated political clash, Lok Sabha MP and former Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur slammed the Bihar Congress and RJD on Saturday for sharing a controversial AI-generated video on social media. The video allegedly mocks Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother, Heeraben Modi, sparking outrage among BJP leaders.
Thakur didn’t hold back, calling it a “low level of politics” from the opposition. Speaking exclusively to , he said, “A mother’s place is sacred in everyone’s life—she gives birth to us. But Congress and RJD have sunk so low by using abusive words against PM Modi’s late mother and spreading such hateful videos. This reveals their true mentality. Do they really need to stoop this low in politics? Is insulting someone’s mother ever justified?”
He pointed out that this isn’t the first time. “Congress didn’t apologize for their earlier controversial remarks and now they’re repeating the same mistake,” Thakur added. “The people of Bihar and the entire country won’t forgive them. In the upcoming elections, voters will hit back hard at Congress and RJD.”
Thakur also took a dig at opposition leaders who’ve been warning that India might face a crisis like Nepal. “That’s just their wishful thinking,” he dismissed, brushing off the claims as groundless.
The controversy blew up earlier this week when Bihar Congress shared the video on X (formerly Twitter). BJP quickly labeled it “highly disrespectful” and demanded an apology. They’ve even filed a police complaint, while Congress leaders are trying to brush it off as no big deal.
This row is heating up the already tense battle between the ruling BJP and opposition parties ahead of key Assembly polls. BJP is using it to highlight what they call the Congress’s “culture of disrespect,” making it a major talking point in Bihar politics.
