In a big step towards modernizing India’s armed forces, the chiefs and commanders at the Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) 2025 decided to merge the education branches of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. This move will create a unified Tri Services Education Corps, making training and education more efficient across all branches.
The conference also greenlit the setup of three Joint Military Stations to boost collaboration between the services. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan led the discussions, reviewing key directions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. He outlined a clear, time-bound plan to put these reforms into action.
Held in Kolkata, West Bengal, from September 15 to 17, 2025, the CCC brought together top leaders from the Ministry of Defence and the three services. As the highest forum for the Indian Armed Forces, it focused on strategic talks to shape the future of national security. This year’s theme, “Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future,” highlighted efforts to tackle new challenges like evolving warfare.
Talks zeroed in on strengthening jointness and integration among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Leaders discussed better interoperability, faster decision-making, and reforms in key areas like space, cyber, information, and special operations. They stressed adopting a tech-driven approach to warfare, weaving innovations right into daily operations.
The event kicked off with an impressive demo from the Joint Operations Command Centre. A live Air Defence show followed, displaying cutting-edge tech for air surveillance, missile defence, and counter-drone tactics. CDS General Chauhan then reviewed major reforms from the past two years, giving everyone a clear picture of the progress made.
These steps aim to align the Indian Armed Forces with national priorities, building a stronger, more adaptable military ready for tomorrow’s threats.
