Security forces in Manipur made significant recoveries during their ongoing search operations across the state in the last 24 hours. Officials reported that teams seized arms, ammunition, and explosives while maintaining area control, and the overall law-and-order situation stayed stable.
On September 11, personnel found a hidden cache of weapons in the foothill areas of Sonapur and Jairolpokpi village in Jiribam district. The haul included a modified SBBL gun, three homemade muzzle-loading SBBL guns, a .22 pistol, a country-made .22 DBBL shotgun, eight 12-bore cartridges, 56 vials and three small bottles of gunpowder, 240 pieces of lead, and one iron rod for filling gunpowder.
In a major breakthrough, security forces arrested an active member of the banned KYKL outfit from his home in Lamsang Makha Leikai, Imphal West. The suspect, identified as Moirangthem Ranjit Singh (43), faces charges of extortion. From his possession, authorities recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine, a pump-action shotgun, 18 live 12-bore cartridges, two empty INSAS LMG magazines, two empty INSAS rifle magazines, a mobile phone, and an Aadhaar card.
Meanwhile, in Thoubal district, police nabbed two individuals—Md. Amir Khan alias Abir Khan (47) and Samim Banu (39)—from their residence in Lilong Ushoipokpi Tharaorok Machin. They seized 35 grams of heroin along with a mobile phone and SIM card from the duo.
In other actions, Manipur Police demolished an illegal bunker at Lambung hill under Leimakhong police station in Kangpokpi district. To crack down on traffic violations, officers issued 13 challans totaling Rs 23,000 on September 11 and removed tinted films from 10 vehicles the day before. Across the state, 116 checkpoints led to the detention of one person.
Authorities are appealing to the public: if you have any looted arms, ammunition, or explosives, return them immediately to the nearest police station or security forces without fear. These efforts highlight Manipur’s push for better security and curbing illegal activities like arms smuggling and drug trafficking.
