In the rugged hills of Arunachal Pradesh’s Along town, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps has kicked off an exciting two-week Yoga training program for its combat soldiers. Starting September 15 and running until the 27th, this initiative aims to boost the troops’ overall well-being, helping them build better endurance, sharper focus, and stronger resilience amid tough conditions.

Defence spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat shared that expert instructors are leading these tailored sessions, designed specifically for soldiers facing Arunachal Pradesh’s challenging terrain and harsh weather. “Yoga isn’t just about physical fitness—it’s key for mental calm, emotional balance, and spiritual strength, all essential for soldiers tackling high-pressure situations,” he explained.

Rooted in India’s ancient traditions, Yoga promotes discipline and self-control, perfectly aligning with the army’s ethos. The program includes practical exercises like yoga postures, meditation, and breathing techniques to help troops manage stress, stay alert, and recover faster from fatigue. This holistic approach ensures soldiers remain composed and ready for any military challenge.

The Indian Army’s push for such programs highlights its commitment to total fitness, echoing the national drive to make Yoga a lifestyle for everyone. Troops at Along are diving in with enthusiasm, showing how this timeless practice fits right into modern military training.

Lt Col Rawat added that by the end, participants will feel more physically tough and mentally resilient. “It’s about shaping soldiers who are not just warriors, but well-rounded individuals ready to face every hurdle with calm and power,” he said. This Yoga for soldiers effort in Arunachal Pradesh is a great step toward healthier, stronger armed forces.
