Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K. T. Parnaik (Retd.) told a crowd of army veterans that even after leaving the uniform, they keep earning the nation’s respect and can still contribute to the country’s growth.
He spoke at the Ex‑Servicemen Regimental Reunion of the 2nd Regiment of Rajputana Rifles in Meerut, Uttar Pråad, on Saturday. The former officer who joined the Rajputana Rifles in 1972, and later commanded the unit, welcomed the Veer Naris and other distinguished veterans for their sacrifices and service.
Parnaik urged the veterans to share their experience, discipline and leadership with their communities. He reminded them that many government welfare schemes exist for former soldiers and their families. “Everyone should use these benefits,” he said, stressing the need to care for Veer Naris and their children, honouring their dignity and giving them real opportunities.
During the event, the governor listened to the veterans’ concerns and ideas. He suggested forming special committees of Rajputana Rifles ex‑servicemen to address veterans’ issues across the country. He also called on the veterans to keep their bond of camaraderie strong, renewing the brotherhood that lives on in service, sacrifice and nation‑building.
The reunion drew veterans from all over India, celebrating a shared legacy of courage, discipline and dedication to the country.
Prior to his governorship, Lt. General Parnaik served in challenging roles: he led an infantry brigade in the Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir during Operation Parakram, commanded the 17 Mountain Division in Sikkim, the IMTRAT team in Bhutan, and 4 Corps in the Northeast.
