On Teachers’ Day in Arunachal Pradesh, Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd) honored outstanding educators for their dedication to improving education across the state. During a special ceremony in Itanagar, he presented awards to 40 teachers, including principals and headmistresses, who have made remarkable contributions to shaping young minds.
These award-winning teachers come from both government and private schools, highlighting the widespread appreciation for quality education in Arunachal Pradesh. The Governor praised these educators as true nation-builders, emphasizing their critical role in developing a future generation of informed, healthy, and capable citizens.
Lt. General Parnaik shared his thoughts on how the education system needs to evolve with changing times. He explained that the curriculum, teaching methods, and assessment systems should focus on building students’ abilities and understanding, rather than merely passing exams.
He pointed out that higher secondary education should do more than just prepare students to memorize answers. Instead, it should encourage critical thinking, discipline, and judgment. Students need to learn how to apply their knowledge, understand concepts in context, and develop skills that will help them in real life, not just get good grades.
The Governor also talked about the importance of implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He said NEP offers a clear plan for flexible, multidisciplinary, and skill-based learning. If applied sincerely, this policy can help bridge gaps and prepare students better for the future.
During his visits to different districts, Lt. General Parnaik emphasized the need to promote girls’ education, improve discipline, focus on health and fitness, and provide proper career guidance. He expressed hope that these efforts would instill a strong sense of responsibility and duty among the youth of Arunachal Pradesh.
This Teachers’ Day celebration reminded everyone of the vital role teachers play in building a brighter, more prosperous Arunachal Pradesh.
