Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu just picked up a big honor: the Outstanding Public Service Award from his alma mater, Hindu College in New Delhi. The Old Students Association (OSA) of the college handed it out during their 20th Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony on Sunday.
Nalong Mize, chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Corporation and a fellow Hindu College graduate, accepted the award on Khandu’s behalf. Khandu couldn’t make it but shared a heartfelt message, thanking the association and dedicating the recognition to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. “This honor belongs to my state and its inspiring residents,” he said. He called it humbling to get props from his old school for his work pushing progress in the region.
The OSA, one of India’s top alumni networks, spotlights grads who’ve made real waves in society and leadership. This year’s nod to Khandu celebrates his strong track record as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister. He’s driven big changes in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, good governance, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability. Under his watch, the state blends its rich traditions with modern goals, aiming for a “Viksit Arunachal” that fits into the broader “Viksit Bharat” vision for India’s growth.
OSA members cheered Khandu’s success, saying it shows off Hindu College’s legacy of producing dedicated leaders who serve with integrity.
Khandu joins an impressive lineup of award winners this year, including filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Supreme Court Judge Manmohan Malhotra, and Rajiv Nayyar for lifetime achievement.
