As Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates his 75th birthday today, Indians are looking back at his game-changing contributions to the country’s growth. One standout achievement from his time as Gujarat’s Chief Minister is the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, kicked off back in 2003. This event has turned Gujarat into a magnet for investments and a key player in the global economy.

Picture this: In the early 2000s, Gujarat was grappling with economic hurdles and shaky infrastructure. Narendra Modi stepped up with a smart plan—a worldwide platform to highlight the state’s strengths and pull in big money from investors everywhere. That’s how Vibrant Gujarat was born, not just as a fancy gathering, but as a powerhouse for industrial growth and international ties.

Fast forward 22 years, and the summit has become one of the world’s top economic forums. Its effects on Gujarat’s industries are massive. Take manufacturing: After Tata Motors set up in Sanand in 2008, it sparked a boom in auto and engineering sectors, making Gujarat India’s manufacturing hub. In energy and petrochemicals, huge projects like refineries, LNG terminals, and renewable energy parks have positioned the state as the nation’s energy gateway.

Textiles and apparel have exploded too, with Surat and Ahmedabad turning into global hotspots for sourcing. The pharmaceuticals scene is thriving, as Gujarat now powers a big chunk of India’s pharma output—think giants like Zydus and Torrent going global. Lately, the focus has shifted to tech and innovation, drawing startups and big players in AI, semiconductors, and Industry 4.0.

The 2024 edition, held during India’s Amrit Kaal phase, brought together reps from over 100 countries. It sealed major deals in food processing, renewable energy, and port infrastructure. PM Modi highlighted India’s role as a “Vishwa Mitra”—a true global partner—and renewed the push for a developed Viksit Bharat by 2047.

But the real win? Jobs. Every Vibrant Gujarat summit from 2003 to 2024 has zeroed in on creating employment across sectors like agriculture, engineering, auto manufacturing, textiles, education, agro-processing, and tourism. These opportunities spread to all 33 districts, reaching not just cities but semi-urban and rural areas too. No wonder Gujarat ranks high in national employment stats—it’s all about inclusive, skill-driven growth.

With PM Modi turning 75, the moment feels special. Gujarat is gearing up for its own 75th anniversary in 2035, with a 10-year plan covering industry, agriculture, education, and sports. During his recent Gujarat visit, he announced Urban Development Year 2025 to boost inclusive city growth. His vision isn’t stuck in the past; it’s fueling the future, turning every success into the next big leap.

To spread the Vibrant Gujarat magic further, the Gujarat government is rolling out regional conferences this year. These events aim to spark local industrial growth, lure targeted investments, and build stronger global links. Each one will spotlight regional wins, roll out new policies, spark innovations, and team up partners to empower local economies.

Kicking things off, the North Gujarat conference hits Mehsana on October 9 and 10. Highlights from these meets will shine at the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, cementing the state’s spot as an innovation hotspot.

At its core, the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit isn’t just an event—it’s a mindset of bold governance, smart planning, and worldwide teamwork. As India steps into Amrit Kaal and PM Modi marks 75 years of leadership, this summit stands as a shining example of his drive for real change. It’s shaping Gujarat today and inspiring the whole nation tomorrow.
