BJP Unveils Manifesto for Bodoland Territorial Council Elections in Assam
Guwahati, Assam: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rolled out its manifesto, called Sankalp Patra, for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that these polls will take place on September 22, marking a fresh start for the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Speaking at the launch event, CM Sarma shared exciting plans for BTR residents. "BJP promises to bring all our schemes to life here," he said. The party aims to include 5 lakh women from BTR in the Assam Orunodoi Scheme and Mahila Udyamita Scheme. Plus, girl students in the region will benefit from the Nijut Moina Scheme. BJP also commits to securing constitutional safeguards and land rights for the people of BTR, ensuring a brighter future.
The manifesto launch happened at the BJP’s state headquarters in Guwahati. CM Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia unveiled it alongside senior leaders like Harish Dwivedi and Assam Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu. To kick things off with energy, they also inaugurated the party’s official election campaign song.
BJP’s push for the BTC elections focuses on peace, development, and a secure Bodoland. As Assam BJP spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami noted in a press release, "This time, BJP will definitely lead the governance of BTC." He highlighted the huge crowds at recent rallies, where thousands of BTR residents showed up with enthusiasm.
During three rallies on Thursday in Bhergaon, Bhairabkunda, and Dihira, CM Sarma stressed why BJP’s win matters. He called for a corruption-free BTC, pointing out how past governments like BPF and UPPL misused funds from Delhi and Dispur. "Those funds meant for your welfare got siphoned off, stalling real progress," Sarma told the crowds. He assured that under BJP, every penny will reach the people, driving genuine development.
Joining Sarma were Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, several state ministers, MLAs, and state BJP chief Dilip Saikia, who rallied the organizational strength. Saikia urged voters to back BJP candidates for a BTC where all communities and ethnic groups thrive with dignity and harmony.
CM Sarma wrapped up by saying BJP enters these elections with a fighting spirit for a peaceful and prosperous BTR. With the campaign heating up, BJP plans to ramp up events across the region in the coming days. This BTC election could reshape development in Bodoland—stay tuned as the race unfolds!
