BJP Unveils Vision Document for BTR 2025 Elections in Assam
In a big move ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) 2025 polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rolled out its Election Vision Document on Friday. This roadmap focuses on bringing lasting peace, strong security, and fast-track development to the region, home to 3.5 million people.
The launch happened at the BJP’s state headquarters in Guwahati, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia leading the event. The document comes in three languages—Assamese, Bodo, and English—to reach everyone easily. They also released five catchy election songs in Bodo, Assamese, Bengali, Adivasi, and Gorkha languages, highlighting unity and cultural vibes across communities.
Chief Minister Sarma, while unveiling the document, shared how BTR has turned a new page in recent years. "We’ve seen real peace, growth, and progress here," he said. A major win? The full removal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the area, paving the way for top-notch security and calm.
Sarma pointed out the huge jump in funding too—from just Rs 100 crore back in 2016 to a whopping Rs 1,500 crore in 2025. This shows the strong push from both the central and state governments to boost BTR’s development, he added.
The vision lays out eight key promises to meet the dreams of BTR’s people. Sarma stressed that his government will fully implement the historic Bodo Peace Accord, ensure equal rights for the Bodo community and all 26 other ethnic groups, and introduce a fresh democratic way to pick leaders for the Village Council Development Committees (VCDC).
He also promised a connectivity makeover for BTR, with modern bridges over rivers and streams to improve roads, transport, and overall growth.
State BJP chief Dilip Saikia echoed these points, calling equal rights and opportunities for all communities the heart of the party’s plan. "With clean, corruption-free governance, quick rollout of big schemes, and direct benefits to people, we’ll turn Bodoland into a shining example of peace, security, and prosperity for all of India," he said.
The event drew a lively crowd, including Education Minister and BTR Vision Document Committee Chairman Ranoj Pegu, state BJP in-charge Harish Dwivedi, Udalguri BJP district president Sunil Basumatary, party workers, and reps from BTR’s diverse groups.
Right after the launch, excitement peaked with a massive joining ceremony. Former AKRASU president and youth leader Biswajit Roy, along with top members from the Kamtapur Autonomous Council and hundreds from the Koch Rajbanshi community, signed up with BJP.
Saikia welcomed them warmly, saying their addition fires up the party’s drive to serve Assam and BTR with even more energy and togetherness.
This BJP BTR vision document and the fresh joins signal a united front for the 2025 elections, aiming to build on Assam’s peace and development story.
