Bairabi-Sairang rail line powerful symbol of unwavering commitment to NE: Mizoram CM

In a big win for Mizoram’s connectivity, Chief Minister Lalduhoma praised the central government on Saturday for the new Bairabi-Sairang railway line. He called it a shining example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication to boosting North-East India’s growth.
PM Modi himself kicked off the Rs 8,070 crore Bairabi-Sairang rail project and unveiled the shiny new Sairang railway station during his visit. Speaking at a lively public gathering in Aizawl, Lalduhoma said, “Today marks a historic moment for our state. We’re thrilled to have the Prime Minister here to launch the Bairabi-Sairang railway and Sairang station. This is a game-changer for our connectivity and progress.”
The Chief Minister highlighted how PM Modi’s trip underscores the Centre’s strong focus on the North-East. “Your presence here shows your rock-solid commitment to developing the North-East and building a united, connected India,” he added.
Lalduhoma didn’t hold back in calling the Bairabi-Sairang railway line an engineering wonder. “It’s not just about tracks and tunnels—it’s about bringing people together, fostering national unity, and fulfilling our shared dreams. This line pulls Mizoram closer to the rest of India and vice versa.”
The excitement didn’t stop there. PM Modi also flagged off three new express trains: the Sairang-Aizawl to Delhi Anand Vihar Terminal Rajdhani Express, the Sairang-Guwahati Express, and the Sairang-Kolkata Express. These routes promise faster travel and stronger links for the region.
Train crews were buzzing with joy over the launches. One loco pilot shared with , “It’s awesome to flag off a new train on a fresh route heading to Delhi. Feels great!”
Senior Assistant Loco Pilot Akshay Kumar couldn’t hide his happiness. “I’m super excited! Direct connectivity from Aizawl to Delhi is huge for us. Ab Dilli door nahi hai—Delhi isn’t far anymore.”
Even the Train Manager welcomed the step, though he wished it had come sooner. “We’re all pumped up. This should’ve happened earlier, but better late than never. Now, everything feels closer. Ab Dilli zyada door nahi hai.”
With these new Mizoram railway developments, travel in the North-East just got a whole lot easier, opening doors to more opportunities and unity.
