BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal Fires Salvo at Prashant Kishor Over Jan Suraj Party’s Shady Beginnings
In a fiery press conference in Muzaffarpur, BJP MP and former Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal took direct aim at political strategist Prashant Kishor and his Jan Suraj Party. Jaiswal didn’t hold back, calling out what he sees as major flaws in the party’s setup and funding. He challenged Kishor on five big unanswered questions, urging Bihar voters to dig deeper into Jan Suraj’s real story.
Speaking at a hotel in the Maripur area on September 12, Jaiswal mocked Kishor’s talk of "five guarantees" for Bihar’s future. "Kishor promises the world, but he can’t answer these five basic questions about his own party," Jaiswal said, keeping the crowd hooked with his sharp wit.
First up, Jaiswal accused Kishor of misleading everyone about Jan Suraj’s launch. Back in October 2022, Kishor publicly said he’d tour Bihar first and only start a party if people wanted it. But Jaiswal waved a newspaper clipping from August 22, 2022, showing an ad that already announced the Jan Suraj Party’s formation. "This ad ran in small papers in Delhi and Punjab, far from Bihar’s eyes, to keep it under wraps," Jaiswal claimed. He added that the party was quietly registered in Delhi that year, complete with a president (Sarat Kumar Mishra), general secretary (Vijay Sahu), and treasurer (Ajit Singh). "The same leaders and address are still listed today. So, what’s the point of ‘launching’ it again in 2024? Isn’t this just a scam?" Jaiswal asked, raising eyebrows about Jan Suraj Party’s credibility.
Jaiswal didn’t stop there. He demanded proof of any party meeting that supposedly replaced Mishra with Uday Singh and Manoj Bharti as president. "No such meeting happened, as far as I know. So, where did Mishra vanish to?" he pressed, highlighting the lack of transparency in Jan Suraj’s leadership changes.
On Kishor’s role, Jaiswal pointed out the irony. "Your face is on every poster and ad, but you dodge any official post in the party. Is it so you can slip away when trouble hits, leaving others like Uday Singh and Manoj Bharti to take the fall?" He noted that Jan Suraj’s website mysteriously skips listing its office-bearers. "Is this a temporary business you plan to wrap up after the elections?" Jaiswal quipped, questioning the party’s long-term commitment to Bihar politics.
Diving into funding, Jaiswal alleged shady donations are pouring into Jan Suraj despite Kishor’s claims of a clean campaign. "You’re building this in Bihar, so why are outsiders like Gulati and Vij donating? Take Living Global Foundation—registered in Bengaluru with just Rs 50,000 capital. How is it handing over crores to your team as an NGO?" He questioned how an NGO could fund a party registered only in 2022. Jaiswal went further, saying the party’s reported donations match just one day’s spending. "For the other 364 days, is it Telangana contractors and liquor companies footing the bill? Are you promising them contracts and an end to prohibition in return?"
Jaiswal spotlighted Enrica Enterprises Private Limited, calling its directors "liquor barons" who are bankrolling Jan Suraj heavily. "You promise to scrap prohibition in an hour if you win power. Have you assured them liquor shops on every Bihar street post-elections?" he charged, linking it to broader concerns about alcohol policy in Bihar.
He also slammed Kishor for attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s education reforms. "Nitish Kumar spent 20 years getting kids into schools. Is your ‘change’ just to flood Bihar with booze and online gambling?" Jaiswal asked, defending the NDA’s track record on development.
Finally, Jaiswal claimed Jan Suraj’s real game is to split NDA votes and boost RJD indirectly. "You’ve said you’ll dissolve the party if you win 10 seats and release the MLAs. Is this a Rs 200-400 crore deal with Lalu Yadav? Lalu couldn’t beat Nitish in 20 years—now you’re just fracturing BJP votes to help the Mahagathbandhan. You even skip fielding Muslim candidates where they’ve already done so. Your aim isn’t victory; it’s weakening the NDA," he alleged.
Wrapping up, Jaiswal urged Bihar’s people and thinkers to demand answers. "Ask Prashant Kishor: Who’s funding Jan Suraj? Where’s the money from? Is it genuine political donations or investments from liquor firms and contractors expecting big returns after polls?" He insisted that before guaranteeing Bihar’s future, Kishor must first guarantee full transparency on his party’s origins, funds, and true intentions.
This showdown adds fresh heat to Bihar’s buzzing political scene ahead of elections, with Jaiswal’s barbs putting Jan Suraj Party under the spotlight like never before.
