In Patna, the BJP’s election team sat down for a three‑hour strategy session, a move that could shape the party’s approach to the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The meeting, convened by Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal, was attended by all 18 members of the party’s election committee, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the party’s state election in‑charge.
During the discussion, the committee reviewed 60 of the sitting seats, breaking down how current MLAs have performed and identifying new candidates who could strengthen the BJP’s chances. Jaiswal told reporters that the group will continue to examine the remaining seats and the seats the party lost last time tomorrow. A key theme was the party’s plan to give “special priority to women and youth,” the minister said.
The attention to candidate selection comes alongside calls from the Bihar BJP unit for tighter voter verification. The party wants the Election Commission of India to confirm the identity of voters who appear in burqas, ensuring that only legitimate voters cast their ballots in the state’s elections.
On Saturday, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and his team—Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi—visited Patna for a detailed review of poll preparedness. The two-day visit saw the ECI meeting with representatives from all major parties in Bihar, including the Aam Aadmi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, BJP, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal, among others. The commission sought their input on how to improve the electoral process.
With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, both the BJP’s internal strategy and the Election Commission’s preparations are under close scrutiny. These developments aim to bring clearer focus on candidate quality, voter verification, and overall electoral integrity in one of India’s most politically active states.
