The Janata Dal (United) has just launched its election campaign for Bihar’s upcoming assembly polls. On Friday, the party released a list of 40 star campaigners and filed it with the Election Commission.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tops the list, underscoring his leadership role. Other prominent figures include Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Bihar cabinet ministers Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Ashok Chaudhary, national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar. Women leaders featuring prominently are Meena Yadav, Kavita Singh, Kahkashan Parveen and Lovely Anand—demonstrating JD(U)’s push for diverse representation.
A letter signed by JD(U) National General Secretary Afaq Ahmad Khan confirms that these leaders will head campaign efforts across various constituencies. Many of the chosen campaigners are also contesting candidates, aligning leadership with grassroots outreach.
Under the NDA coalition, JD(U) and BJP will each contest 101 seats in Bihar. The Lok Janshakti Party, led by Chiranjeev Paswan, plans to field 29 seats, while Hindustani Awam Morcha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha each contest six seats.
Other key names on the JD(U) list include Rajya Sabha MP Ramnath Thakur, Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav, state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha, and several Members of Parliament and active party cadres such as Dr Alok Kumar Suman and Bharti Mehta.
With the list unveiled, JD(U) has officially kicked off its campaign, aiming to leverage its star power to win a majority in the Bihar Assembly elections.
