In New Delhi on Sunday, Tejashwi Yadav, the popular RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, fired a major criticism at the current NDA government in the state. He said people in Bihar are “fed up” and “ready for change”, pointing to a wave of voter discontent.
During a press conference, Yadav slammed Nitish Kumar’s administration for corruption, a lack of progress on industrial and job growth, and general administrative failure. He told reporters that corruption and crime were at an all‑time high and that the government has shown “no hearing or action.”
The RJD chief also attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah, citing Shah’s claim that industries cannot find land in Bihar. Yadav added that while Prime Minister Modi is building factories in Gujarat, Bihar is left with “thumbs” and no real support. He said the NDA has turned Bihar into a barren field and called for fresh leadership.
If the Mahagathbandhan coalition (RJD + Congress + others) wins the November 6 and 11 polls, Yadav laid out a plan to boost welfare. He promised pensions for all three‑tier Panchayat representatives and Gram Kachahari officers and insurance up to ₹50 lakh for village court officials. He will raise the “Jan Vitran Pranali” financial assistance and increase the rate paid per quintal to helpers in the public distribution system.
Yadav also pledged special financial aid for local workers such as carpenters, barbers, and potters, offering up to ₹5 lakh to buy tools and start their own businesses. He recalled how his 17‑month stint as Deputy Chief Minister had delivered what others could not, yet his achievements stalled when Nitish Kumar broke ties.
He confirmed talks are underway with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The joint manifesto of the Mahagathbandhan will be released soon, he said. “We will sit together and make our vision for the Bihar public very shortly,” Yadav promised.
Bihar’s voters will head to the polls on November 6 and 11, with results announced on November 14. The next election will decide whether the NDA government can stay or if the Mahagathbandhan will bring the promised change.
