Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off a big day in Bihar on Monday by landing in Purnea and inaugurating the shiny new Interim Terminal Building at the New Civil Enclave of Purnea Airport. It was a grand event, with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, and Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary all joining in to celebrate the boost for local air travel.

But that’s just the start. Later, PM Modi rolled out multiple development projects worth a whopping Rs 36,000 crore right there in Purnea. These initiatives aim to supercharge Bihar’s growth, from infrastructure to farming, helping everyday folks in the region.

One highlight? The launch of the National Makhana Board in Bihar. If you’re wondering, makhana—those crunchy fox nuts—are a big deal here. Bihar produces about 90% of India’s total makhana, thanks to ideal spots like Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Kishanganj, and Araria. Their fertile soil and climate make the stuff top-notch. The board will push for better production tech, smarter post-harvest handling, value-added processing, and stronger markets—even exports and branding. This means real support for makhana farmers across Bihar and India, putting the state on the global map for this superfood.

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for a massive 3×800 MW thermal power project at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur. Clocking in at Rs 25,000 crore, it’s Bihar’s biggest private sector investment yet. Built with ultra-super critical, low-emission tech, it promises reliable power supply and bolsters the state’s energy security—good news for homes and industries alike.

Water woes in Bihar got a fix too. The PM kicked off Phase 1 of the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project, valued at over Rs 2,680 crore. This upgrade tackles canal desilting, rebuilds damaged parts, revamps settling basins, and ramps up water flow from 15,000 to 20,000 cusecs. Districts in northeastern Bihar will see better irrigation, flood protection, and tougher farming against tough weather.

And let’s not forget the trains! True to his push for better rail connectivity in Bihar, PM Modi inaugurated new rail projects, laid foundation stones for more, and flagged off several trains. These moves make travel smoother and link communities like never before.

All in all, it’s a powerhouse day for Bihar’s development, from airports and power plants to makhana boosts and river links—setting the stage for brighter futures.
