In the latest tally from the Bihar Assembly poll, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) kept its strong performance going in West Champaran. The coalition won seven out of nine seats in the district, leaving the Congress with just the Valmiki Nagar and Chanpatia seats.
The tally shows the NDA as the clear favorite to form the next Bihar government.
Nadamur‑Ramnagar – BJP’s Nand Kishor Ram beat RJD’s Subodh Kumar by 35,680 votes.
Narkatiaganj – BJP’s Sanjay Kumar Pandey defeated RJD’s Deepak Yadav with a 26,458‑vote margin.
Bagaha – BJP’s Ram Singh won over Congress’s Jayesh Mangalam Singh by 6,313 votes.
Lauriya – Vinay Bihari of BJP beat VIP’s Ran Kaushal Pratap Singh by 26,966 votes.
Nautan – BJP’s Narayan Prasad won against Congress’s Amit Kumar, leading by 22,072 votes.
Bettiah – Former minister Renu Devi of BJP secured a 22,373‑vote win over Congress’s Washi Ahmad.
Sikta – JD‑U’s Sammridh Varma took the seat with more than 46,000 votes against independent Khurshid Firoz Ahmad; CPI‑ML’s Birendra Prasad Gupta finished third.
Only in Valmiki Nagar and Chanpatia did the Congress manage a win.
- Valmiki Nagar: Congress’s Surendra Prasad edged out JD‑U’s Dhirendra Pratap Singh by 1,675 votes.
- Chanpatia: Congress’s Abhishek Ranjan won by just 602 votes over BJP’s Umakant Singh.
After this victory, leaders from the NDA partners—BJP, JD‑U, Lok Janshakti Party, Hindustani Awam Morcha, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha—are set to meet and choose the party’s chief ministerial candidate. Sources suggest that Nitish Kumar could be sworn in for a tenth term as Bihar’s chief minister.
