Patna, Nov 14 – In the live Bihar elections, neither Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj nor Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) is leading in any of the 90 seats they contested. Election live‑updates show both parties stuck at zero‑seat territory as of 3.50 p.m.
### Jan Suraaj’s run
Exit polls before the vote had already warned that Jan Suraaj would win between zero and two seats. The on‑ground numbers match that warning: the party is not in the top‑ten in any constituency. Kishor, who once helped Nitish Kumar win in 2015, Jagan Mohan Reddy in 2019, and Mamata Banerjee in 2021, said his new outfit could either “perform exceedingly well or crash.” Yet today’s results keep the expectation of a zero‑seat finish.
### Mukesh Sahani and VIP
Sahani, a former Bollywood set designer turned politician, launched VIP and was named the Mahagathbandhan’s Deputy Chief Ministerial face. The party contested 15 seats but failed to secure a win anywhere. Sahani himself did not even contest a seat. His brother Santosh Sahni came eighth out of 12 candidates in Gaura Gram, where BJP’s Sujit Kumar leads by more than 10,000 votes.
VIP had hoped to unite Mallah, Sahani, and Nishad voters in Mithilanchal and Seemanchal, but the numbers show the coalition is far behind. As of 3.50 p.m., the NDA controls 209 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan holds 29.
### Voter turnout
Bihar’s two‑phase elections drew 66.91 % voter turnout, the highest since the first elections in 1951. This high engagement set the stage for a tightly contested race, but Jan Suraaj and VIP remain on the losing side of the statistics.
The Bihar election continues to develop, with the parties watching the counting closely to see if any late turns arise.
