Prashant Kishor, the charismatic founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, is stepping into the hot‑seat vote in Bihar. On Saturday he flew to Raghopur, a key assembly area in the Vaishali district, to talk with voters and hear their concerns.
Kishor told that his visit is part of a listening tour. “I’ve been here before and today I’ll hear who people think should represent them,” he said. The leader emphasized that his poll drive will kick off once the party finalises all ticket nominations.
He noted the special status of Raghopur, the seat that has repeatedly supplied Bihar’s Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. “I want to ask the members of Jan Suraaj in this area: if Raghopur is to be freed from poverty and backwardness, who should stand against Tejashwi Yadav?” Kishor added. He promised that the feedback would shape the party’s decision by the next day.
Raghopur has a long history of political battles. The seat has been held by prominent figures of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) – Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and their son Tejashwi Yadav – as well as by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United). In recent elections, Tejashwi claimed the seat in 2015 and 2020, serving as Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition.
As Bihar’s electoral calendar heats up, the Jan Suraaj Party is positioning itself to disrupt the long‑standing RJD dominance in Raghopur. With Kishor’s outreach and a plan to launch after ticket announcements, voters can expect a fresh campaign narrative aimed at social change and poverty reduction.
