Patna, Oct 15 – RJD party chief Tejashwi Yadav, who served as Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, filed his nomination for the Raghopur Assembly seat in Vaishali district today. The move comes as the state gears up for its next assembly elections, with the party hoping to keep its stronghold in the Yadav‑heavy constituency.
During the filing, Tejashwi submitted an affidavit that lists his total assets at just over ₹8.1 crore. The document breaks down the holdings into movable and immovable property. His movable assets, including a desktop, laptop, and a luxury Italian‑made Beretta pistol, amount to ₹6.12 crore, while his immovable assets—houses and land—add another ₹1.88 crore.
“We trust our voters in Raghopur, and this is my third time running here,” Tejashwi told journalists. “Bihar people are fed up with crime, corruption and unemployment. We promise real change, and the Grand Alliance will lead.”
Tejashwi’s wife, Rajshree Yadav, declared assets worth ₹1.88 crore, with ₹59.69 lakh in immovable property and ₹1 lakh in cash. She also owns 480 grams of gold. The couple’s liabilities total ₹55.55 lakh, mainly joint loans with Tej Pratap Yadav and mother Rabri Devi. Tejashwi himself holds 200 grams of gold and 2 kg of silver.
The nomination event turned into a large rally, drawing thousands of party supporters. Senior RJD leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti and Sanjay Yadav walked the floor with Tejashwi, signaling a united front.
In his speech, the former deputy chief minister took aim at the current ruling coalition. “JDU is now led by Lalan Singh, Sanjay Jha and Vijay Chaudhary—three who have sold out to BJP,” he said, underscoring his claim that Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United is effectively gone.
Tejashwi first won Raghopur in 2015 and defended the seat in 2020. As Bihar moves toward its upcoming elections, the RJD leadership will look to maintain its influence in this key region while challenging the incumbent coalition.
