Bihar: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav questions financial viability of Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana

In Patna, Bihar, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav fired off strong criticism at both the state and central governments over the new Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief wants straight answers on how they’ll fund this big promise.

Yadav, who once served as Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, told reporters it’s a question every Bihari has: “The budget and announcements top Rs 7 lakh crore. How will you pull this off, Prime Minister and Chief Minister? What’s your plan for revenue, and how do you handle more needs down the road?” He kept it simple, stressing this isn’t just politics—it’s about real money for Bihar’s people.

He didn’t stop there. Yadav slammed the governments for ignoring corruption. “I’ve called out the corrupt officials time and again,” he said. “Has anyone faced real action yet?” Bihar’s ongoing fight against graft remains a hot topic, and Yadav’s pushing for accountability.

The scheme itself kicked off Friday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed out Rs 10,000 each to 75 lakh women in Bihar through direct bank transfers—that’s a whopping Rs 7,500 crore right away. Women can use the cash for startups in farming, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, or other small businesses. Plus, they might get up to Rs 2 lakh more in later stages to build their ventures.

Yadav has called the NDA-led Bihar government copycats before, even claiming the Rs 10,000 is basically a loan they’ll have to repay later. But he’s got his own vision. If RJD wins power, Yadav vows to roll out the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana statewide. “We’ll start schemes for mothers and daughters,” he told the crowd. “Women from every block and panchayat are rallying for change, and change is coming to Bihar.”

This promise ties into RJD and Congress’s election pledge for the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls. It offers Rs 2,500 monthly aid to women from poor and backward families, aiming to boost financial support for Bihar’s vulnerable communities. With elections heating up, women’s schemes like these are grabbing headlines across India.
