Patna, 8 Oct – Tension is mounting inside the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as Bihar’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) pushes harder for a fair ticket split.
Sources say Chirag Paswan, the party’s face‑value leader, is frustrated with the Janata Dal (United) over the seat‑sharing deal. In a surprise move, the LJP called an emergency meeting of its top leaders yesterday morning at its Patna headquarters.
The meeting was organized from the office of Jamui MP Arun Bharti, who is now in charge of Bihar elections. Bharti will head the session at 10 a.m. Raju Tiwari, the party’s Bihar co‑in‑charge, along with MPs, state secretaries, vice‑presidents and cell heads, were asked to be on time. The discussion will focus on the next steps for the LJP as the NDA coalition stalls.
Inside the party, leaders are expected to sit down for internal talks before a major decision is announced. Meanwhile, attempts to talk it out with the BJP have also hit a wall. Although Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP MP Vinod Tawde met Chirag in Delhi on 7 Oct, he was not happy with their offer.
Chirag Paswan had earlier missed a meeting with BJP leaders because he was in Bihar for his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s death anniversary in Khagaria. He flew to Delhi Wednesday night hoping to discuss the seat‑sharing mix with top BJP leaders the next day.
With only three days left before the nomination phase of the Bihar Assembly elections begins, uncertainty grips the NDA. Adding to the drama, Jitan Ram Manjhi of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) is also demanding a larger share, calling for 15 seats and hinting at more rebel voices inside the alliance.
As the clock ticks down, voters in Bihar will watch closely to see how the coalition’s disputes resolve before elections open.
