Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the memorial of Bihar’s revered former chief minister, Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, on Friday in Samastipur. He praised Thakur’s legacy and promised to realise the hopes of Bihar’s 140‑million residents.
Modi spoke to a huge crowd in the district, saying, “Today is a very important day for me. I stopped first at Karpoori Gram to honour the great Mahatma that is Karpoori Thakur.” He urged people to make the most of the GST savings festival and wished them a happy Chhathi Maiya celebration.
In his address, Modi said that Bihar is ready to progress faster under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “When the NDA comes back to power, the people of Mithila and Samastipur will see a new speed,” he said, prompting cheers.
He also criticised the ruling parties of the opposition coalition—RJD and Congress. Modi accused them of corruption, citing leaders who were on bail over large‑scale scams. “The opposition talk about ‘vote stealing’ while members of RJD and Congress face thousands of crores in fraud cases,” he said. He added that they were trying to seize the title of ‘Jananayak’ while ignoring the legacy of Karpoori Thakur.
Modi expressed confidence that, with Nitish Kumar at the helm, the NDA will break past records in Bihar and that the people will award the alliance its biggest mandate yet. The Prime Minister’s visit highlighted his commitment to building a better future for the state.
